Max's New Preschool Year
I may be reading way too much into this, but I think this picture does a good job of showing the analytical side of him. Yes, he is a typical, rambunctious boy, but he is not over the top about it; I know many boys his age who are MUCH more physically aggressive and adventurous than he is (and I'm grateful he is not a complete daredevil!). Max likes to study and observe things, so he really enjoys the preschool setting.
At the beginning of September, he moved in with a new teacher, Ms. Ruth, and her helper, Ms. Jessica, so he is no longer in the Bridger room (the 1 year olds) at all as they used that as a transitional period in the afternoon for him over the summer. Instead, he goes through the 2 year old preschool curriculum in the morning and has daycare in the afternoon, with quite a bit of outdoor time on nice days.
He still loves his school and often asks about his teachers and friends when he is at home...things like "What is Josh doing?", and "Did Ms. Ruth go home? I love her", and "I want to go to preschool and see friends", and I'm SO glad he likes it. There are still some days he has a hard time in the morning when we leave him, but those times are rare, and they always assure me he is fine within moments. Plus, considering the amount of times he asks to go, I know he enjoys it:)
His favorite friends are Josh, Jackson, and Carter, and it's adorable to see them hug and kiss each other. Nearly every day, Jackson drops what he is doing to follow Max as we are heading out of the room and says, "Bye, Max!", giving him a big hug on the way. My heart nearly melts.
At the start of his new "school" year, the directors talked to us about possibly moving him up to the 3 year old room in January. They think he is academically and socially ready and would do quite well, but he has to officially be 2.5, which he will be at the end of the month. We told them we would consider it and see how he is doing at the end of this semester. The move wouldn't be a big deal since he knows most of the kids in that class, and he LOVES the teacher, Ms. Mary. I don't want to rush anything or push him, though, so we'll see how he acts after his little sister arrives:)
